Brad Swenson, VP and National Healthcare Leader for Winthrop Resources, was a presenter at the Virginia/Washington DC HIMSS Chapter held at the Kingsmill Resort Conference Center in Williamsburg, VA. Mr. Swenson suggested that we cannot predict change, but we can determine the susceptibility of change by:
- Gaining a better understanding of both traditional forces of change and those on the horizon
- Studying each hospital initiative with an eye to the degree of likelihood of change
- Plot a map that illustrates hospital technology projects' by (a) susceptibility to change and (b) likelihood of less than 'traditional' expected life.
- Develop acquisition and maintenance strategies that include appropriate levels of agility/flexibility.
